We work all the angles

“Back when I was 14, I challenged myself to design a tool that included every single increment of 45°. I sat down and went through dozens of iterations until I eventually found a way to include all of those angles into one shape. Though I never did anything with the design at first, over the years, this particular idea consistently garnered interest from people, so I decided to develop it into an actual product for my fellow makers.”

Dinorule went for years without a name, and was often just referred to as “that 45-degree angle thing.” It wasn’t until the hole for hanging the Dinorule on a pegboard was added that it started looking like a dinosaur: the hole looked a bit like an eye, with the opposite end looking a bit like a tail; with some imagination, one could think of the ruler markings like the many spikes on the back of an Allosaurus. All that was left was the addition of a little smile and the friendly character “Dinorule” was born!
